On May 8, 2015 nearly 50 members of Local 2000 spent the day providing local elected officials, legislative aides, partners, and media members the opportunity to be a fire fighter for a day. Participants suited up in fire fighter protective clothing, donned self- contained breathing apparatus, and entered a real fire to experience firsthand the environment in which fire fighters work.
County Executive Allan Kittleman, Deputy Chief of Staff J-Tab Siddiqui, County Councilman Jon Weinstein, State Senators Ed Kasemeyer and Guy Guzzone, State Delegates Trent Kittleman, Eric Ebersole, Dr. Terri Hill, Dr. Clarence Lam, and Vanessa Atterbeary, legislative aide to Delegate Kittleman Chelsea Amason, attorney Matt Darby, and WBAL TV reporter/anchor Sarah Caldwell participated in the day-long event.
We wish to thank the members who made for a fantastic experience for the participants, DFRS for helping to make the event a reality, and the key decision makers who took time out of their busy schedules to experience what it is like to be a Howard County fire fighter for day.
Worker’s Compensation attorney Matt Darby also provided this testimonial and thank you to the members of Local 2000.
